MICROBLADING
The most recognized word in permanent makeup, microblading has been popular for many years and it's the option most clients know to ask for. While it is still widely available, its popularity has been declining in recent years. Mostly due to some of its failures as brows age. It can look amazing when first done and for some clients it can look good long term. However, over the last 10-15 years of its reign many artists and clients alike are finding some disappointment at the long-term results.
There are several factors to consider when we look at microblading as a whole, the first one being it isn't suited to all skin types of especially clients with oily skin, mature skin and several ethnicities. It is the most aggressive form of permanent makeup. The actual action itself of a blade cutting the skin is an obvious detriment. This can and often does compromise the skins integrity. Leading to even scar tissue formation in some circumstances. Artistically it is limited to a two-dimensional plane. The hairstrokes produced cannot safely intersect with each other which is necessary to produce hyper realism. No shadows or wispy dimension as well. For the biggest drawback it has a tendency to age poorly. Often, we see a grey muddy block of color over time. Sometimes spotting and uneven fading. With our newer gentler techniques and proper design choices these things can be avoided.
We recommend nano and hybrid options as a safer and more aesthetically pleasing alternative.
